About David Barnes

David Barnes has made a career of communicating complex issues clearly and concisely, whether covering state and local governments for newspapers in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, working as a congressional aide, reporting on transportation policies for national trade publications and communicating complex issues for federal agencies.

During his career, David has written position descriptions, vacancy announcements, and interview questions for numerous positions within the federal government. He understands the hiring process and how to write federal resumes that clear the human resources hurdle and land on the hiring managers’ desk.

“Writing federal resumes is both an art and a science,” David says. “You want it to make it as easy as possible for HR to find you best qualified and refer you to the hiring manager. When writing federal resumes, I put myself in the shoes of the hiring manager, who is going through a stack of resumes to make an initial decision on filling that vacant office. That’s where accomplishment stories come into play.”

David is a certified federal resume writer and trainer and has helped individuals land interviews and jobs at many federal agencies. Click here to schedule your free resume consultation.
